Parkland County firefighters put their skills to the test at the inaugural Battle for the Bell on August 11 at the Acheson Fire Hall. Twenty-eight firefighters competed in team-based challenges inspired by the physical demands and skills used in the fire service.

In accordance with the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, Procor Limited has applied to Alberta Environment and Protected Areas for an approval to operate mobile rail car washing facilities at various rail locations throughout Alberta. These facilities will clean and service up to 40 rail cars per month. The mobile facility may operate at multiple rail locations within the following municipalities and counties: Lamont County, Sturgeon County, Strathcona County, Parkland County, City of Edmonton, City of Calgary, Flagstaff County, County of Vermilion River, Lacombe County, County of Grande Prairie, and the City of Grande Prairie, City of Medicine Hat, Town of Redcliff, Cypress County, County of Warner No. 5, Lethbridge County, MD of Taber.

Please take notice that the following development permit(s) have been approved by the Development Authority as a discretionary use with variance, subject to appeal:

Parkland County Centre and the Agricultural Services Building will be closed on Wednesday, August 19 from 12:00 to 4:30 p.m. for an internal function.

County services will continue at other facilities, including all Transfer Stations, the Entwistle Community Recreation Centre, the Parkland County Animal Shelter, and the Entwistle Outdoor Pool.

Essential services will remain available throughout the closure.

Looking for a fun way to learn about agriculture in Parkland County? A new library kit, created by Agriculture and Environmental Services, is now available at Parkland County Libraries.

Parkland County Council will hold a Special Meeting on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. in Council Chambers at Parkland County Centre (53109A HWY 779). The meeting will also be livestreamed online.

Agenda items include:

1. Bylaw 2026-28 - Acheson Zone 5 Highway 16A and Spruce Valley Road Wastewater
   Infrastructure Borrowing for second and third, and final, readings.
2. Funding Request - Acheson Zone 5 Infrastructure Construction.
3. Wabamun Wastewater Pump Replacement.
4. Appointment of Council Members to Parkland County Library Board.
