2026 Provincial Referendum
A provincial referendum will be held on October 19, 2026. The referendum is being administered by Elections Alberta. Residents seeking information about voting, voter eligibility, identification requirements or the referendum process should visit the Elections Alberta website. Parkland County is not administering the provincial referendum and cannot answer questions about voting, locations, voter eligibility, identification requirements, ballots or referendum advertising compliance. Those inquiries should be directed to Elections Alberta.
Election Sign Guidelines
Under the Election Act and the Election Finances and Contributions Disclosure Act, Elections Alberta is responsible for registering referendum third party advertisers and monitoring compliance with provincial referendum advertising and election-finance requirements. Inquiries or complaints regarding the content, sponsorship identification, authorization statement or third party advertising compliance of referendum advertising should be directed to Elections Alberta at info@elections.ab.ca. The Government of Alberta has issued general guidelines for temporary election signs placed within or near provincial highway rights-of-way. Third-party advertisers seeking to place referendum signs in those areas should contact Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors at robert.lindsay@gov.ab.ca or 780-968-4228 to confirm the applicable requirements before installing signs.
A referendum advertising sign placed on private property requires the permission of the property owner. Referendum advertising signs are not permitted on property owned by Parkland County, including County facilities and lands, unless expressly authorized by the County. Unauthorized signs may be removed.
