River Valley Alliance - Community Engagement Committee
Available Opportunities: 2
The River Valley Alliance (RVA) is a regional partnership of six municipalities, including Parkland County, working together to create a continuous, connected river valley park system along the North Saskatchewan River. Through the development of trails, pedestrian bridges, and river access points, the RVA improves public access to nature, supports recreation and tourism, and helps protect and enhance one of the region’s most significant natural assets.
The purpose of the Community Engagement Committee is two-fold:
- To promote and publicize the RVA vision to its shareholder municipalities, the regional public and other river valley-related organizations to maintain and increase support for, and involvement in, the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Park System.
- To advise the Board of Directors, as its eyes and ears in the member municipalities and the general public, on any local issues or trends pertinent to the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Park System.
Membership
The Community Engagement Committee consists of 18 members each appointed by their respective municipality every two years, six members from Edmonton, and two from each of the other RVA municipal shareholders. The Committee Chair is selected from the membership of the Committee and approved by the RVA Board of Directors. The Community Engagement Committee Chair sits on the Board of Directors with voting status.
Term/Expiry
- Two (2) year term length.
