Energy Management
Parkland County is committed to reducing energy use, lowering utility costs, and supporting a cleaner, more resilient future for everyone who lives, works, and plays here.
Through thoughtful planning and smart energy practices, we’re improving the energy performance of County facilities while helping our community access tools and information that make energy savings choices easier.
What We're Doing
We're upgrading lighting, heating, and cooling systems, and building controls to improve performance, manage operating costs, and keep our facilities comfortable year-round.
The County monitors energy use across its facilities to identify opportunities for improvement, reduce utility costs, and ensure equipment is operating as efficiently as possible.
These on-going upgrades help extend the life of our buildings and support reliable, cost-effective services for residents, while also contributing to broader environmental goals over time.
Save Energy at Home
Small changes add up. Here are a few easy ways to cut energy use and lower your utility bills:
- Switch to LED lighting – they last longer and use up to 75% less energy
- Unplug unused electronics – many devices draw power even when turned off
- Use programmable thermostats – adjust heating and cooling automatically
- Seal drafts – simple weatherstripping and caulking can reduce heat loss
- Wash clothes in cold water – it's easier on clothes and uses less energy
