Meeting Agendas

Agendas for Council and Governance and Priorities Committee meetings are publicly available:

Consent Agendas

Under Parkland County’s Meeting Procedures Bylaw, a Consent Agenda is a single agenda item that groups together routine matters that are recommended for approval without discussion, questions, or debate.

Consent Agenda items are approved by one motion and one vote. They have the same force and effect as if each item had been considered and approved separately, helping Council manage meeting time efficiently while maintaining accountability and public access.

The Agenda Review Committee determines which items are placed on the Consent Agenda, using criteria set out in the Meeting Procedures Bylaw.

Consent Agenda items typically:

  • Are routine or administrative in nature
  • Follow existing policy and approved budgets
  • Do not require debate or further clarification

The following cannot be included on a Consent Agenda:

  • Public Hearings
  • Quasi‑judicial or adjudicative matters
  • Items requiring statutory notice
  • Matters that, in the opinion of the Agenda Review Committee or Council, require debate

All Consent Agenda items are clearly identified in the published agenda and supported by publicly available reports.

Yes. Before the Consent Agenda is voted on:

  • Any member of Council may request an item be removed, without debate or explanation.
  • Items involving a declared pecuniary or conflict of interest must be removed.
  • Removed items are considered separately at the same meeting or at a future meeting, as directed by Council.

Requesting removal does not indicate opposition—it allows Council to ask questions or discuss the item in more detail.

At the meeting:

  1. The Chair asks if any Councillor wishes to remove an item from the Consent Agenda.
  2. Council votes on the Consent Agenda as one motion.
  3. Approval by a majority vote has the same effect as individual approvals.

Parkland County’s Consent Agenda process ensures transparency by:

  • Publishing agendas and reports in advance of meetings
  • Clearly listing all Consent Agenda items
  • Allowing Council members to remove items at any time before the vote
  • Making decisions in an open, public meeting

Council Follow-up Action List

Our Council Follow‑Up Action List is used to track all motions, deliverables, and action items arising from Council and Governance and Priorities Committee meetings. It clearly identifies responsibilities and timelines, helping ensure accountability, transparency, and good governance. The list supports Administration in managing workloads effectively while keeping Council informed of progress and ensuring agreed‑upon actions are completed as expected.
