Tri-Municipal Region 2025 Alberta Housing and Service Needs Estimation Report Released

Parkland County, Spruce Grove, and Stony Plain, AB: In October 2025, the Tri-Municipal Region participated in a large-scale provincial housing and service needs estimation. The data highlighted in the report can be used to help inform decision-making across organizations, funders, and government by providing reliable and up-to-date information on housing insecurity, housing stock, and service needs.

The 2025 Alberta Provincial Housing and Service Needs Estimation was led locally by the City of Spruce Grove, the Town of Stony Plain and Parkland County in partnership with other organizations, including WestView Primary Care Network, Parkland Food Bank, Bredin Institute, Turning Points, Parkland Pregnancy Support Centre, Neighbourlink Parkland, and Alberta Parenting for the Future Association. The province-wide project was overseen by the Rural Development Network (RDN) and funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Reaching Home: Canada’s Homelessness Strategy and the Catherine Donnelly Foundation.

Over a 31-day period, using a service-based population estimation methodology, service providers invited residents to fill out a survey asking questions about their housing situations, their education, employment, income, and the kinds of services they access. RDN analyzed the data collected from surveys to identify the number of residents experiencing housing insecurity in the Tri-Municipal region and their experiences.

The data collected through this survey will help the communities to better understand homelessness and poverty, identify where supports are most needed, improve planning and programs, and inform local, provincial, and federal decision-making. The data also helps strengthen partnerships and supports the development of community-based solution.

Addressing homelessness and housing insecurity requires strong collaboration across the region. By working together, municipalities, service providers, and community partners can better understand local needs, strengthen supports, reduce service gaps, and create more coordinated solutions for residents.

The community report was released today, May 20, 2026 by local municipal partners. Volunteers, media, survey participants, and local providers are encouraged to review the results on your municipal website.
