Living by the Lake: Dock and Mooring Information in Parkland County

Parkland County is home to many beautiful lakes, providing our residents to recreational experiences such as swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing to name a few. For those residents lucky enough to reside on or in the near vicinity of these lakes, docks and seasonal mooring structures are a common part of waterfront living.

The Province of Alberta’s Seasonal Docks and Mooring Standard allows for waterfront and semi-waterfront land owners to install temporary seasonal docks for personal use without applying for a Public Lands Act approval. Land owners who are backlot, meaning they are removed from the waterbody by more than one parcel of land, are required to obtain approval from the Province prior to installing their seasonal dock and have specific rules that may apply based on their proposed dock access.
