Interested in serving your community? Join our Board and Committee Orientation

Have you ever considered serving on a Parkland County board or committee but wanted to learn more about what’s involved?

There’s still time to register for Parkland County’s upcoming Public Committee Member Orientation, taking place Tuesday, August 11 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Parkland County Centre.

The session is open to new, returning, and prospective members and is designed to provide an introduction to what it means to serve on a County board or committee.

Participants will learn about the purpose of boards and committees, the roles and responsibilities of members, who they will work with at the County, how workplans are developed and what to expect during a typical meeting.

Serving on a board or committee is an opportunity for Parkland County residents to share their perspectives, professional experience and local knowledge while helping provide valuable input to Council. Members typically commit a few hours each month and are compensated for their time.

The orientation comes just ahead of the County’s next board and committee recruitment campaign, which opens September 1, 2026. Opportunities will be available on several committees covering areas such as agriculture, environmental stewardship, community sustainability, economic diversification, libraries, regional recreation and land use.
