Help Shape Parkland County’s Climate Adaptation Plan
Wildfire, flooding, drought, extreme heat and severe storms can affect our homes, farms, businesses, infrastructure and natural areas. Parkland County is developing a Climate Adaptation Plan to better understand these risks and identify practical ways we can prepare for them.
But understanding what is happening in our community starts with hearing from the people who live and work here.
Residents are invited to complete our Climate Adaptation Plan survey by November 20. Your experiences and perspectives will help us understand which weather-related risks are having the greatest impact in Parkland County and what actions should be considered as we develop the draft Plan.
What will the Climate Adaptation Plan do?
The Plan will help the County:

document how extreme weather and changes in our environment are affecting the community;

assess current and future risks to Parkland County communities; and

identify practical actions and partnerships that can help reduce risks and build resilience.
Climate adaptation is about preparing for and responding to changing conditions. That could include measures such as improving infrastructure to better manage heavy rainfall, reducing wildfire risk through FireSmart practices or improving community spaces to provide relief during extreme heat.
