Draft Beef Cattle Code of Practice Open for Public Comment

The National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC) and the Canadian Cattle Association have announced the launch of a public comment period for the draft Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Beef Cattle.

This is an opportunity for producers, consumers, and anyone with an interest in beef cattle welfare to review the draft Code and provide input. Feedback collected during this period will help inform the final version, ensuring it reflects the diversity of operations and perspectives across Canada.

The draft Code includes guidance based on current research and practical on-farm experience, covering key aspects of cattle care and handling.

Comments must be submitted through the online system by June 12, 2026. Following the close of the comment period, a committee will review all feedback before the final Code is released in 2027.

Producers are encouraged to participate and share their perspectives.
