Impacts of Canada Post strike on County Services

The Canada Post strike has ended, and postal service is gradually resuming. However, delays related to Canada Post delivery backlogs are expected to persist for the next few weeks.

During this time, Parkland County wishes to advise residents that postal-related County services, including sending and receiving of any mail correspondence (including bills, payments or notices), continue to be impacted. Recognizing this, as a courtesy Parkland County is temporarily waiving late fees for December utility invoices. Residents are still required to pay their balances, and may register to access account balances online. (See the dropdown 'Invoices, Bills and Payments' below.)

The County continues to take all practical steps to minimize disruptions and provide alternative methods of correspondence and service delivery; however, residents may expect some delays or changes to County service until the backlog impacts of the strike are resolved and normal postal service is fully resumed.

Click the drop-down headings below for more information about specific service impacts and how the County is addressing them.

During the strike, the County was unable to deliver landowner notices informing residents about new and approved subdivision applications and development permit approvals in their area.

As a temporary alternative, new subdivision applications, approved subdivision applications, and development permit applications will be listed online until normal postal service is resumed.

Unfortunately, the County was unable to deliver printed copies of the Winter edition of the Your Parkland quarterly magazine due to the postal strike. Typically, the magazine is delivered to all residences throughout the County.

As an alternative, the Winter edition has been made available online in a downloadable digital format, with a limited number of print editions available for collection at Parkland County Centre.
