Points of Interest

CLIFFORD E. LEE NATURAL AREA

The hiking trails of Clifford E. Lee Natural Area transform once the snow flies, becoming an incredible cross-country skiing destination. Explore the park’s 28 acres of forest and wetlands, and keep your eyes peeled for snowshoe hares, deer, coyotes, beavers and more. While the boardwalk reconstruction project is ongoing, the non-boardwalk areas of the park, including trails accessed from the south entrance, have reopened to visitors. CHICKAKOO LAKE RECREATION AREA

Chickakoo Lake isn’t just a great summer destination. Once winter hits, you’ll find 14 kms of well-maintained cross‑country ski trails and even skate skiing lanes to meander your way through the woods. There’s even a warming hut to help you stay out even longer.

WABAMUN LAKE PROVINCIAL PARK

Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean the fish quit biting! Head out to Wabamun Lake with your ice fishing gear and get after some monster pike, whitefish, walleye and yellow perch. Never ice fished before? Check out the lake on Alberta’s Family Fishing Weekend (Family Day) for a chance to try the sport before you
commit to buying gear.
