Wabamun Waterfront Park Grand Opening A Community Success

This past Saturday, Parkland County proudly celebrated the official grand opening of the newly revitalized Wabamun Waterfront Park.

The day began with a blessing from Elder Ann Marie Campiou of Enoch Cree Nation, who reminded guests of the connectivity between life and nature, especially when it comes to water, a fitting tribute for a lakeside event.

Following words from distinguished guests, the ribbon was cut and the park opened to hundreds of residents and visitors who enjoyed live music, children’s activities, a free BBQ, and of course, the water – through the refreshed splash park and the expanded beach area at the lakefront. Smiles, laughter, and strong community spirit filled the park as people explored the upgraded pier, covered stage, and new playground for the very first time.

The strong turnout for this event shows how much the Parkland County community values shared spaces like Waterfront Park. These upgrades will help families create memories for years to come while also boosting tourism and local business in Wabamun. With the park now officially open, residents and visitors are encouraged to enjoy everything the lakefront and the Hamlet have to offer, all year long.

The revitalization of Waterfront Park was made possible through support from the Federal Government via Prairies Economic Development Canada under the Canada Coal Transition Initiative.
