Wabamun Outdoor Movie Draws Record Crowd

Parkland County is celebrating the success of last Friday's outdoor movie event, which brought together nearly 650 attendees for an evening of family-friendly entertainment under the stars. Attendees gathered at Coal Diamond sports park in Wabamun to enjoy The Wild Robot on the big screen, creating a memorable night of community connection and giving back.

The outdoor movie night, now in its fourth year, offers an accessible and family-oriented night out with opportunities to strengthen community connections.

In addition to drawing a record crowd, the event generated support through an admission by donation model which encouraged attendees to contribute either monetary or non-perishable food items. The donations help to support food security and local families in need through various organizations. The newly formed Wabamun Community League sold popcorn and treats on site, successfully raising funds for continued community programming.

“This event showed the true spirit of Parkland County,” said Sarah Nipshank, Social Development Coordinator. “Not only did hundreds of people come out to enjoy a movie with their friends and neighbours, but they also gave back to those who need it most. We’re grateful for the incredible support from our residents.”

The County extends its thanks to the volunteers, staff, and community partners who helped make the event a success.
