Wabamun Building Product Site Reclamation

The area known as the Building Product Site (BPS) in Wabamun, located South of 51 Avenue and West of Prospect Drive, was used for industrial activities many years ago, before the County acquired the land. Testing has identified several small areas within the site where the soil is contaminated. However, testing has not indicated any negative impacts from the contamination including impacts to the lake. As a precautionary measure, the County will remove the identified contaminated soils and dispose offsite.

On the east side of the site, old concrete pads and the remains of former buildings are still present. These structures are deteriorating and are unsafe. As part of this project, the buildings and concrete slabs will be demolished to improve safety.
