Parkland County Invites Public to Learn More About the Acheson Industrial ASP Update

Parkland County, AB – Parkland County is inviting residents, businesses, and interested parties to learn more about the Acheson Industrial Area Structure Plan (ASP) Update and share their thoughts at upcoming public Open Houses and information sessions this April.

Project Overview

The Acheson Industrial ASP is the long-term roadmap that guides how the Acheson area grows and develops over time. As part of a regular and ongoing planning process, Parkland County is reviewing and updating the ASP to ensure it reflects current development patterns, economic trends, and the County’s Municipal Development Plan (MDP).

The Acheson ASP will be updated in two phases. Phase 1, completed in December 2020, focused on administrative updates, formatting changes, and revisions to mapping and policies. The County is now launching Phase 2 of the update, which will focus on policy review and refinement to support efficient growth, unlock development potential, and align with Council’s strategic vision.

Acheson continues to grow rapidly, and as land use, servicing, and economic conditions evolve, it is important to regularly review and update planning documents to ensure they continue to meet the needs of the community.

Beginning this spring, Parkland County is seeking early input to better understand how the Acheson Industrial ASP is working today and how development opportunities in Acheson can be improved through updated policies.
