The West Inter Lake District (WILD) Water Commission has identified a new water line break on the supply line west of Highway 43, which serves Wabamun and Entwistle.
As a result, Water Usage Restriction – Condition A is now in effect for both communities. Condition A includes a temporary ban on municipal water‑use operations.
There is no impact to residents at this time, and drinking water remains safe and available.
The City of Edmonton’s Mosquito Management Program will begin April 20, 2026, and run until September 30, 2026.
This program helps control mosquitoes in Edmonton and surrounding areas (including parts of Parkland County), improving quality of life to help enjoy outdoor activities in Edmonton’s brief summer, and reduce the quantities of pesticides needed to repel or control adult mosquitoes in Edmonton.

Reservoir levels in Entwistle and Wabamun have been restored, and normal operations can now resume. Water restrictions for both communities are lifted effective immediately.
Health Canada has approved emergency use of strychnine in approved areas of Alberta and Saskatchewan, including Parkland County. This approval is to help manage serious crop damage caused by Richardson’s ground squirrels.

On April 14, 2026, Parkland County Council directed that a Special Council Meeting be scheduled for April 27, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. in Parkland County Council Chambers. This meeting will be held to hear the items originally scheduled for the April 28, 2026 Regular Council Meeting.
Parkland County Council has approved the finalized 2026 municipal budget, confirming a low residential tax rate increase of just 0.8% and a nonresidential increase of just 2.75%, while maintaining high quality core services and investing in long-term priorities for our growing community.
Parkland County Fire Services celebrated the graduation of its 2025 recruit class on April 8, recognizing 20 new firefighters as they officially joined the service.
