Information for Candidates

Being a member of Council is a challenging and rewarding experience. It offers an opportunity to have your voice heard and represent the best interests of the residents of Parkland County.

Those elected as a member of Council will have the opportunity to shape the future of our municipality.

Campaign Period

The campaign period for the 2029 Municipal Election runs from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2029.

The Notice of Intent form will come available in January 2026.

Nomination Period

The nomination period for the 2029 Municipal Election runs from January 1, 2029 to September 17, 2029.

The Nomination Package will come available in January 2029.

As a member of Council you will face demands of your time. In addition to regular meetings, you will be expected to attend special meetings, sit on committees and attend various public meetings and functions. To get an idea of how much time is involved consider speaking to a current Councillor.

A Council Orientation Calendar of Events for important meetings, events, and orientation activities will be posted closer to the 2029 Municipal Election.

County Councillors serve a four-year term. This term begins at the first meeting of Council after the election and continues until the first meeting of Council after the next election, unless their offices are vacated sooner.
