Food Trucks

Everybody loves a good food truck! Here’s what you need to know about operating a mobile food vending unit within Parkland County.

Getting Started

A mobile food vending unit, more commonly called a food truck, is considered any vehicle not permanently affixed to land used to sell food and food-related products. All mobile food vendors operating within Parkland County are required to meet the following requirements:

Parkland County is business friendly. To improve efficiency, businesses do not require a business license or approval to operate from the County.

All mobile food vending units are required to have a valid food handling permit(s) from Alberta Health Services. View AHS’s Guidelines on Mobile Vending Units.

If you have questions regarding the types of food handling permits that may be required, you can contact Environmental Public Health directly.

A fire inspection and/or related safety codes inspection approval completed through another Alberta municipality will be accepted.

If Parkland County will be your sole place of operation, you are required to apply for Gas Permits through Parkland County. You can do so online via the PLANit Parkland portal.
