The Low-Income Transit Pass provides eligible, low-income individuals and newcomers to Canada the opportunity to purchase monthly transit passes at a reduced rate, allowing them to access public transportation within the Tri-Region as well as commuter service to Edmonton. Eligible residents can purchase transit passes at a discounted rate of $25 for local travel and $50 for commuter service.
Newcomers to Canada are eligible to receive a free transit pass for the first three months, after which they can purchase a pass at the subsidized rate for the remainder of the year. |
Attendants of individuals requiring support |
Mandatory attendants of individuals who require support are allowed to ride for free on the Local and Commuter Transit when accompanying a person who needs assistance.
Those requiring support must complete the Needs Assessment for Applicants Requiring a Mandatory Attendant while using Local and Commuter Transit.
The applicant will receive a registration card if it is determined that a mandatory attendant is required. When using the Local and Commuter Transit, the person requiring support will be required to pay the transit fare and they may be asked to show their registration card, which will allow their attendant to ride for free.
