Frequently Asked Questions
Who initiated the addressing change in Parkland County? |
Canada Post initiated the mailing address change in Parkland County as part of the Corporation's modernizations plans across Canada. |
I received a notice from Canada Post that they were changing my address. What does this mean? |
Canada Post is transitioning to civic addressing. While your address previously included a municipal identifier like Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, or Duffield, you are actually a resident of Parkland County. Your address will now reflect this. |
What forms do I need to complete? |
Yes. Canada Post will send you change of address cards. You must send these cards to anyone who currently sends you mail. To update your address with Parkland County, simply fill in our Change of Address form and submit it by email to taxes@parklandcounty.com, regular mail, in person at the County Centre or in the after-hours drop box located at the south side of the building. You may also fax it to us at 780-968-3226. You must also update your address with Service Alberta to ensure your Land Title remains correct. You must fill out the form and submit the original to Land Titles as a copy will not be accepted. All owners must sign the form.

Will this affect my home insurance? |
It might. This would be due to your previous address having a City of Spruce Grove or Town of Stony Plain identifier previously, and would mean your insurer erroneously assumed your home was within a closer proximity to a fire hydrant or fire hall than it actually is. Contact your insurer for more information. |
I have a secondary dwelling on my property. Does it need an address? |
Yes. Addresses are used by emergency services personnel, allowing Fire, Police and Bylaw to locate buildings where their help is needed quickly and easily. This means that if there is more than one house on your property, you will require another civic address. This may also trigger the need for a development permit if you did not acquire one prior to constructing the second dwelling. Please contact Planning and Development Services at 780-968-8443 if you require a new civic address or development permit. |
What happens if I don't update my mailing address? |
Canada Post will provide free Mail Forwarding service for one year starting on October 17, 2016. After the one year you will not receive your mail from anyone who has your previous address on file. |
Why can't I give you the change over the phone? |
We require the request in writing. You may also email us at taxes@parklandcounty.com. |
Why did the location of my mail box move? |
Canada Post has discontinued all Rural Route Delivery throughout the County. While most mail box locations remain the same, new locations exist in lower traffic areas. Contact Canada Post at 780-963-2867 or 780-962-4419 for more information on where your mail box is located. |
Who else do I need to contact to change my address? |
Everyone's mailer list is different. With Canada Post forwarding you mail for one year you have the opportunity to catch any mailers you missed or forgot about. |
I haven't received anything from Canada Post, what do I do now? |
You must register at the Spruce Grove Post Office and fill in the proper documentation. The address is: 360 Saskatchewan Ave., Spruce Grove, AB T7X 1A0 |
