Acheson Civic & Mailing Address Changeover Project
In 2015, Parkland County Council passed a resolution which allowed County Administration and Canada Post to improve and convert rural addressing in the Acheson area to urban style street names and numbers. The urban addressing system to be used is an extension of the existing street/avenue system within the City of Edmonton Winterburn Industrial Area. Click here for the map with the new Acheson road names.
These changes will be implemented August 21, 2017.
Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please call Parkland County at 780-968-8888.
If you have questions for Canada Post, please contact Jeffrey Way at 780-944-3333 ext. 43079 or by email at jeffrey.way@canadapost.postescanada.ca.
What does this mean for Acheson businesses?
1. New street blades |
Street names, numbering, and other signage will be implemented effective August 21, 2017. This means your current rural civic address will change to the new urban civic address at this time. Your new civic address will be used for emergency services, deliveries, etc. Appropriate authorities such as 911, Telus, and other affected agencies have already been notified of these planned changes. |
2. New postal codes |
Customers will be changed over to the Acheson community name if not already completed with newly issued postal codes. Canada Post is implementing this change to improve mail delivery efficiencies. This change will also come into effect August 21, 2017. Your new civic address and postal code can be found in the letter mailed to you at the end of May. |
3. Informing building tenants and updating your signage |
While your old mailing address will remain valid for 365 days following the date of change, property owners are still required to inform all building tenants and alter any signage on their buildings in accordance with Parkland County Civic Addressing Bylaw No. 2015-30. Please ensure you inform tenants as soon as possible. |
4. Informing mailers and 365 days to update your address |
Please inform the businesses and individuals that send you mail and parcels of your new mailing address so that they can update their records. A supply of postage-paid Change of Address cards are available for pick up at your local post office, which you can fill out and send to you mailers, free of charge. While you notify your mailers of your new mailing address, Canada Post will provide free Mail Forwarding service for 1 year and will end August 18, 2018. |
5. Updating your address |
While mail to your old address will be forwarded to you for a year, you are required to complete three forms, one to return to Canada Post, the Parkland County change of address (remit to Parkland County) and the Alberta Land Titles Change of Address Form (return it to the address shown on the back of the form). Canada PostPlease fill out the Canada Post Change of Address form and mail to address shown on the top of the form or or drop it off. Parkland CountyPlease fill out the Parkland County Change of Address form and email it to taxes@parklandcounty.com. Alberta Land TitlesFor the Alberta Land Titles Change of Address Form, you are required to complete the form and return it to the address shown on the back of the form. Alternatively, you may forward the original form (no scans or photocopies) to us and we will mail it to Land Titles on your behalf. The form must be signed by all registered owners of the property. The original must be sent to Alberta Land Titles, as a copy will not be accepted. |
Why change to urban addressing?
- Adoption of an existing addressing system already utilized in the Capital Region will prevent further confusion
- The urban addressing meets addressing standards for the density of the development that has been developing in the area for a number of years
- This system enables future growth with proper density addressing and improved mail service
