NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

In accordance with the requirements of Section 606 of the Municipal Government Act, as amended, the Council of Parkland County has scheduled two Public Hearings regarding the proposed adoption of the following Bylaws:

Proposed Bylaw: 2025-02 - Amendment to Acheson Industrial Area Structure Plan Bylaw 2020-13

Parkland County Administration has received an application to amend Map 6: Future Land Use Concept of the Acheson Industrial Area Structure Plan (2020-13) to redesignate the two (2) parcels of land legally described as Lot 1, Block 7, Plan 242 1654 and Pt. SW-33-52-26-W4 from ‘Constrained Lands’ to ‘Industrial’ (Lot 1, Block 7, Plan 242 1654) and ‘Commercial/Light Industrial’ (Pt. SW-33-52-26-W4). The purpose of the redesignation is to allow for further subdivision and development of the site.  

Proposed Bylaw: 2025-03 - Amendment to Land Use Bylaw 2017-18 (Redistricting)

Parkland County Administration has received an application to amend the Land Use Map of Land Use Bylaw (2017-18) to redistrict the parcel of land legally described as Pt. SW-33-52-26-W4 from the AGR-Agricultural Restricted and MI-Medium Industrial Districts to the BI-Business Industrial District. The purpose of the redistricting is to allow for a range of land uses that are compatible with the surrounding lands and in alignment with the Acheson Industrial ASP. The parcel of land legally described as Lot 1, Block 7, Plan 242 1654 will remain districted as MI-Medium Industrial District. Bylaw 2025-03 proposes to redistrict a small portion of Lot 1, Block 7, Plan 242 1654 from the AGR-Agricultural Restricted District to the MI-Medium Industrial District to align with the remainder of the lot.

Hearing Procedure

This is a formal Public Hearing and Council is prepared to hear and receive formal submissions and presentations (verbal or written) from those who wish to speak to the proposed Bylaw. Written submissions or presentations may either be submitted in advance to Planning & Development Services by 4:00 P.M. on January 28, 2025, or submitted at the commencement of the Public Hearing on February 11, 2025.

Anyone wishing to make a verbal presentation to Council must notify governanceagendas@parklandcounty.com in advance of the Public Hearing by 4:00 P.M. on January 28, 2025. Verbal presentations at the Public Hearing will be limited to 10 minutes. Anyone wishing to make a verbal presentation who has not made prior arrangements may be allocated a time at the commencement of the Public Hearing. Council advises that this is your last chance to comment on the proposed Bylaw, as Council cannot receive further submissions after the Public Hearing is closed.
