Snow is here! Parkland County is responsible for 1,250 km of graveled local roads and 800 km of asphalt surface roads which now includes Wabamun while the Province is responsible for clearing all provincial highways (once called primary and secondary highways). While the aim is to have the main road system plowed within three days after a snow fall stops; the type, depth and intensity of the snowfall may alter this goal. Fire Bylaw Repeal
As Wabamun continues the process of integration into Parkland County, many bylaws need to be repealed to ensure consistency throughout the County. Council voted to repeal Wabamun Fire By-law 2021-15. Parkland County has an equivalent bylaw that will replace it and unify emergency management across the County.
Effective immediately, Wabamun residents must follow Parkland County's Fire Permit Bylaw. All fire and firework permits for Wabamun residents must be obtained through Parkland County Fire Services. This can be done online or by calling Customer Service at (780) 968-8888. Permits include fire pits without a screen, burning debris, smudge fires, and consumer fireworks.
Prior to applying for a permit, residents should check the fire hazard level for advisories, restrictions, or bans as this may affect permit approvals.
