Peace Officers
Peace Officers

Parkland County has both the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and Parkland County Peace Officers to provide enforcement services to the region.

 RCMP

As Alberta’s provincial police service, the RCMP provides assistance to more than 1.5 million Albertans at the federal, provincial and municipal level. Their nearly 4,200 employees work out of 113 detachments throughout the province’s four policing districts. From the Rocky Mountains, to the prairies, to the oilpatch, Alberta RCMP employees stand at the ready, committed to providing exemplary service through our partnerships and innovative policing techniques.

The RCMP work at the community, provincial, territorial and federal levels to:

  • prevent crime
  • enforce the law
  • investigate offences
  • keep Canadians, and their interests, safe and secure
  • assist Canadians in emergency situations/incidents

 Peace Officer Roles

Parkland County Peace Officers have a valuable role, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of County roads, communities and infrastructure through the enforcement of:

  • Provincial statues (e.g., Traffic Safety Act, Gaming and Liquor Act, etc.)
  • Municipal bylaws (e.g., Community Standards, Off Highway Vehicles)

Additional services include:

  • Working with Alberta Justice and Solicitor General to target unsafe commercial vehicles
  • Protecting local infrastructure through restricting overweight and over-dimensional vehicles (commercial vehicles)
  • Monitoring traffic safety in school zones
  • Patrolling residential areas to prevent break and enters, vandalism and property damage
  • Patrolling industrial areas and municipal parks
  • Animal Services
  • Proactive partnerships with the community through Crime Watch/Prevention groups and school programs
