Agriculture in Parkland County
Farming is a vital industry and way of life in Parkland County.
Living rurally comes with different opportunities and challenges than living in an urban setting. If you choose to live in the country, some farm and ranch activities may affect you, such as machinery noise, dust, and odours. Traffic with wide-loads and slow-moving machinery are also common and may cause dust.
The Agricultural Services department supports farming and rural communities with programs that include weed contol, roadside mowing, and information on rural living.
Agricultural Service Board
The Agricultural Service Board (ASB) is a committee of public and council members who are committed to engaging with the agricultural community and their issues. For more general information on ASBs, please visit the Government of Alberta's agricultural service boards program page.
ALUS
Alternative Land Use Services (ALUS) is a voluntary program that provides technical and financial support for farmers to enhance or conserve ecosystem service production on agricultural land. The goal of ALUS is to "create a healthy working landscape that sustains agriculture, wildlife, and natural spaces for all Canadians."
