Ground ambulance services

Ground ambulance services in Parkland County are the responsibility of the provincial health authority, Alberta Health Services (AHS), and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year.

In emergencies, ambulance crews stabilize people who are injured or sick and transport them to the nearest health care facility for further treatment. Parkland County Fire Services may respond to provide initial care or assistance to the ambulance crew for serious medical emergencies, for a delay in ambulance response, or if AHS requests.

Air ambulance services

The Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) helicopter provides services in Parkland County from their base at the Edmonton International Airport. Alberta Health Services contracts 12 fixed-wing aircraft to provide 24-hour air ambulance services. Physicians, hospitals or emergency medical services personnel arrange air ambulance services. You cannot arrange provincial air ambulance services independently.
