Want to be a paid-on-call firefighter with Parkland County?
Our paid-on-call firefighters are alerted to emergencies and those who are available, go to the fire station to get dressed in protective gear and then into our emergency vehicles.
Our paid-on-call firefighters are compensated an hourly wage based on their training and supervisory responsibility. Staff get paid for emergency response, training, and fire prevention activities.
Minimum requirements
A limited number of positions are available. Minimum requirements to be a paid-on-call firefighter include:
- At least 18 years of age. Applicants between age 16 and 18 may be considered in a junior program
- In good health
- Live within 8 to 10 minutes from your nearest Parkland County Fire Station
- Can meet training requirements - one evening a week and several weekends throughout the year
- Fire services experience is an asset but not a requirement
- Possession of a valid Alberta Driver's license and satisfactory driving record (less than 6 demerits). Driver's abstract to be included with your application
- Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening are required for employment
