How Does Engineering Services Serve the Community?
Engineering Services develops, maintains and manages Parkland County owned infrastructure.
Capital Infrastructure Program
Parkland County's 2023 - 2026 Capital Infrastructure Program outlines plans for major capital works across the county. It includes both new and rehabilitation projects in the following asset categories:
- Roads
- Bridges
- Water
- Wastewater
- Stormwater

Asset Management |
Monitors the life span all County Assets including Roads, Drainage Courses, Storm Water Facilities and Lagoons. |
Development Engineering |
An Engineering Officer would be happy to answer questions, please book an appointment by calling our Customer Service Department at 780-968-8888. Applications and payment can be taken at the counter from our Customer Service Representatives during our regular office hours. |
Land Interests Requirements - Municipal |

Road Construction |
Currently there are over 2000 kms of developed roads and 680 kms of undeveloped roads within Parkland County. Engineering Services looks after:

Trains and Railway Crossings-CN Rail |
Parkland County Council and administration have worked to come to an agreement with Canadian National (CN) Railway to obtain whistle cessation at numerous grade crossings in the eastern half of the County. We continue to work with CN and Transport Canada. |
Transit |
Engineering Services oversees the newly implemented Transit Program. |
Shallow Utility - Utility Line Assignment Applications |
Shallow utilities (power, phone, gas, internet, street light or traffic light cables) as well as water, sewer, and storm lines proposed to be installed within the road allowance require approval from the road authority prior to being constructed. Please fill out the application for approval. |
Engineering Design Standards
The Engineering Design Standards outline the design and construction standards applicable to subdivision development activity within Parkland County.

Traffic accommodation in a workzone
When activities such as roadway/bridge work, utilities work, or materials testing and surveying are performed on or adjacent to public roadways in Parkland County, those performing the work must make suitable provisions to safely accommodate the travelling public while protecting the safety of the workers.

Transportation Impact Assessment (TIA) Development and Submission Guide
A Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) is a valuable tool for analyzing and assessing the transportation impacts of subdivision and development activity within Parkland County. The TIA Development and Submission Guide was prepared to help aid the development of TIA studies by identifying when a TIA study is required, the recommended study scope, and share a common format for presenting results and recommended improvements.
