A building permit is your formal permission to begin a construction, demolition, addition or renovation project on your property. Building permits are required for:
- new buildings
- additions to existing buildings
- renovations or alterations
- repairs to existing buildings
- relocation of buildings
- demolition
- change of use in an existing building
The building owner is responsible for complying with building requirements. Failure to get a building permit can cause construction delays, legal action and/or the removal of work already completed.

Fees
Fees for building and mechanical permits vary depending on the value and type of project.
Inspections
Inspection bookings have changed. Did you know we have a new online permitting system called PLANit Parkland? Please register for an account by clicking the link. Click Here Once you have an account set up, please email inspections@parklandcounty.com or call 780-968-8472 so we can link your account to all of your existing permits. You will then be able to request your inspections with the click of a button.
If you have difficulties setting up your account, please email inspections@parklandcounty.com or call 780-968-8472 to book your inspection. In your email or message, please include your permit number, address, and preferred date of inspection. We will book the inspection and help you get set up in the PLANit Parkland Portal.
Requests received before noon will be confirmed by the end of the business day.
