Amazon today announced plans to open its first Amazon robotics fulfillment center in the Acheson Industrial Area of Parkland County, creating more than 1,000 full- and part-time jobs. The new robotics fulfillment center, set to launch in 2022, is more than 600,000 square feet and will be used to pick, pack and ship small items to customers such as books, electronics, and toys.
“Council is tremendously excited to welcome Amazon to Parkland County,” said Mayor Rod Shaigec. “The facility is a major investment and will create a significant number of jobs in the region.”
“Our strategic location and skilled workforce helped us attract Amazon to Parkland County,” said Laura Swain, Interim Chief Administrative Officer. “Their presence is a welcome addition to our growing logistics/distribution eco-system.”
Amazon joins many other businesses who have chosen to call Acheson home including Champion Pet Foods, Overwaitea Food Group and Fountain Tire.
