Statement regarding provincial funding for Highway 16A and Range Road 20 intersection.

Parkland County has released the following statement regarding provincial funding for Highway 16A and Range Road 20 intersection. 

"We are heartened to see the $22.2 million commitment from the Government of Alberta to address safety issues at the intersection of Range Road 20 and Highway 16A. There have already been too many heartbreaking fatalities at this dangerous intersection, and we have loudly advocated on behalf of our residents for the alignment of this corridor to be addressed now to reduce collisions and save lives. Parkland County undertook a road safety review for the intersection and forwarded it onto Alberta Transportation for consideration in 2022, noting safety issues and suggesting improvements. Parkland County fully expects that this funding commitment will allow the Province to provide a long-term solution, along with a more immediate solution so that the intersection’s safety concerns can be remedied as soon as possible.”
