PARKLAND COUNTY, AB. – The evacuation notices  and alert notifications for Parkland County residents have been lifted, effective April 19, 2016 at 7 p.m. Due to smoke conditions in the Duffield area , air quality remains a concern and residents need to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves.

For information about smoke-related health concerns call Alberta Health Link at 811 or visit the website at www.albertahealthlink.ca.

As of April 18, the County put into effect a Fire Ban in response to extremely dry and windy conditions, after a brush fire broke out in the Duffield area.

All fires that require a fire permit are now prohibited, including fireworks. The use of propane appliances, such as barbecues, is permitted. All previously issued fire permits are suspended until the ban is lifted.

"Do not hesitate to phone 9-1-1 to report a fire," said Acting Fire Chief Shawn McKerry.

Residents and businesses are expected to comply with fire bans and the fire bylaw. Failure may result in a $1,000 fine as well as significant charges for the cost of responses.

Any changes in the situation will be announced on Parkland County’s website (www.parklandcounty.com) and on the County’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
