$51 Million in Targeted Investments to Shape Parkland County's Future
Parkland County is moving forward with strategic investment in key areas, including funding the development of broadband infrastructure, investing in the Acheson Business Park, developing trails throughout the County and supporting initiatives in the hamlet of Wabamun.
“Parkland County is investing $51 million over the next five years into infrastructure and amenities that will significantly improve the quality of life for our residents and open us up for further economic development opportunities in the future,” said Parkland County Mayor Allan Gamble. “We’re excited to see the County make progress on bringing these emerging projects from vision to reality.”
The targeted investments will provide funding for projects in line with Council’s priorities, in addition to the County’s existing five-year Capital Plan. Parkland County will continue to provide a low tax environment for residents and businesses while investing in capital projects that scale up investment opportunities and infrastructure that enhances quality of life.
Project costs for the County, from 2022-2027, are estimated at:
- Acheson Business Park ($18.5 million)
- Investments are targeted to open up over 2,000 acres to stimulate new investment and to generate additional tax revenue for the County

- Wabamun ($18.5 million)
- Initiatives geared towards improving Wabamun’s recreation destination potential will be informed by public engagement this summer and may include upgrades to existing facilities and infrastructure, park and beach area improvements, and wastewater facility upgrades

- A trail master plan is being developed to guide an annual trail development program
The County will undertake detailed design work in 2022 to strengthen cost estimates and to maximize expected project benefits, while exploring prudent and sustainable funding options for these emerging projects.
