Residents of the Village of Spring Lake recently took part in a community clean up event as they work toward becoming a FireSmart recognized neighbourhood.

Science Kits - Available at Parkland County Libraries

Science kits are available at all Parkland County libraries. Parkland County's Agricultural Services Department has developed four different science kits, residents have a wide array of tools to help them learn about the surrounding natural environment. 

Calling all birdwatchers! The ornithology kit has everything you need to identify and learn about local birds. The kit includes field guides, binoculars and information on birds in the County.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Division 6 Councillor Allan Hoefsloot. Allan passed away Saturday, August 10, after a battle with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Allan’s wife, children, grandchildren, as well as his many friends throughout the community.

The Tri-Region Mayors' Golf Classic tournament took place on Monday, July 22, 2024, and raised $20,000 for NeighbourLink Parkland. Great news –the planned upgrades for Wabamun’s Waterfront Park have been pushed back so that residents and visitors can now enjoy the park before construction begins in the fall!

Resident Voluntary Water Restrictions Lifted

Thank you to all residents who were able to voluntarily conserve water where possible due to recent prolonged elevated temperatures and increases in water demand. Please note that as of July 25 at noon, the water restrictions on municipal use have now been lifted. While there were not restrictions on residential and business water use, we appreciate everyone's efforts to conserve water where possible. Mental Health Champion

Andrea Wichuk, a firefighter with Parkland County’s Fire Services, has been selected as a 2023 Mental Health Champion recipient by the Canadian Institute for Public Safety Research and Treatment (CIPSRT).

Over 200 nominations were received and Wichuk was selected along with 19 other recipients for their profound work in peer support and fostering environments of well-being in their workplaces.

WABAMUN, AB —On Wednesday, Parkland County welcomed an announcement that the Government of Canada will provide $29.9 million to support key infrastructure projects within the County to assist our economy’s transition away from coal-fired power and towards other economic pathways.

Road Closure Affecting RR271

Please note that Parkland County has received a low rating advisory regarding a bridge located on Range Road 271 between Township Road 533 and 534.

For the safety of the travelling public, the road has been closed immediately. The length of the closure is yet to be determined. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Council has approved to move the engineering design work ahead of schedule. The goal is to replace the structure as early as 2025.

The WILD Water Line that supplies water to Entwistle and Wabamun remains under repair due to a line break. Additional water is being provided to the reservoirs, and there are currently no restrictions to water usage. The Entwistle Outdoor pool remains open. The fire at the Drax Pellet Plant in Entwistle is under control. Smoke may cause poor air quality in the area for the next couple of days as the piles smoulder.
