Off-Highway Vehicles

In response to resident concerns about OHV (Off-Highway Vehicle) use in the County, Parkland County Council established an OHV Committee to examine the issues and provide recommendations. The Committee was comprised of: farm landowners, interested local residents, OHV enthusiasts and non-motorized recreationists. It met 14 times, analyzed the issues, then presented its conclusions and recommendations to Council Dec 11, 2007. Council reviewed the submission and on March 25, 2008, passed Resolution 105-08 directing Administration to implement nearly all the 26 recommendations of the Committee. The County is now implementing the recommendations by:

  • strengthening the County’s OHV Bylaw 38-2008
  • increasing OHV enforcement in targeted areas of the County
  • promoting safe OHV operation by expanding our OHV education programs in schools
  • advocating with the Alberta Government to improve enforcement and prevention measures
  • working with communities, residents and other stakeholders to find additional solutions.
