Water Systems
Residents of Parkland County may obtain water from a well, by truck from a private hauler, or a system owned and operated by Parkland County. Quality and quantity of well water may vary considerably depending on location and season.
Water wells
Before proceeding with having a well drilled on your property, it is strongly recommended that you:
- Check with Planning and Development at 780-968-8443 to see if a water well is approved for your area.
- Acquire proper approvals before purchasing property.
- Contact the Provincial Groundwater Information Line at 780-427-2770 to find out about water capacity and restrictions when planning to drill a well.
- Check with local health unit to determine water quality.
- Consider costs associated with drilling, pumping and accessing a supply of treated domestic water.
Private Hauler
There are a number of private companies that will haul water to your property. For a list of private companies, visit the Business Directory under the “Working” section of our website.

- Big Lake Water Distribution System which includes Helenslea Heath and Lakeshore Subdivisions

2013 Water Works Rates
To apply for residential or commercial water and sewer services or to setup an account to purchase water from the Acheson Pump house, please complete the following forms and deliver to the Utilities Department at the County Services Building.
