Compliance Requests
Parkland County Planning Services receives requests for what is commonly referred to as a "zoning" or "land use" compliance letter. This letter verifies whether or not existing buildings and/or development on a parcel of land complies with requirements of the municipal Land Use By-law or the building permit by-law. Although the County has no legal obligation to issue compliance letters, it does so as a public service subject to the requirement of an application fee and submission of a real property report.
A request for compliance must be accompanied by two original copies of real property report of the subject parcel, prepared by an Alberta Land Surveyor. Since the date of a real property report may not be current with the date of the compliance letter request, the County will only verify whether or not the buildings/development shown as of the date of the real property report, comply with the requirements of the County's Land Use By-law and Building Permit By-law.
