Recreation Parks and Open Spaces Master Plan
In April 2008, Parkland County engaged RC Strategies to work with staff to develop a Recreation, Parks and Open Space Master Plan.
The Recreation, Parks and Open Space Master Plan will be a strategic plan that is used to provide guidance, direction and recommendations to Parkland County Council and Administration regarding the provision of recreation, parks and open spaces in the County for the next decade. The Plan is to be based on the community’s vision, feedback, needs and expectations related to the service provided.
Information was gathered by assessing current resources/programs, consulting with the public, reviewing existing policy, activity/participation trends, and demographics.
Consultation activities occurred over the Summer/Fall of 2008 through household surveys, student surveys, community group surveys, focus groups and a Council workshop. The findings from this work can be found in the documents section under Public Review Open House.
A series of Open Houses were held in December of 2008 to share these findings and to seek direction from the community in a couple of different areas of the plan.
The Final Draft of our Recreation, Parks and Open Spaces Master Plan and Appendices has been completed. Thank you to all the residents who took the time to provide their feedback on this important document! The information we received from you will be consolidated and recommendations will be presented to Council later this summer.
