Council Meetings
Council holds two types of meetings: Council Meetings and Governance & Priorities Committee Meetings. Council Meetings are more formal and are where Council makes decisions on important matters in the community. Governance & Priorities Meetings are less formal and provide Administration opportunities to share information, discuss issues, and obtain direction from Council.
Council meetings are normally scheduled for the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, commencing at 9:00 a.m., and are held in Council Chambers at Parkland County Centre, unless otherwise posted. All Council meetings are open to the public.
Governance & Priorities Committee meetings are normally scheduled for the first and third Tuesdays of each month, commencing at 9:00 a.m., and are held in Council Chambers at Parkland County Centre, unless otherwise posted. Governance & Priorities Committee meetings are open to the public.
Complete copies of agendas for both Council and Governance & Priorities Committee meetings are prepared five days prior to the meeting and are posted on the Parkland County website the Friday before the meeting.
Draft (unadopted) minutes are posted on the website as soon as possible after the Council and Governance & Priorities Committee meetings have ended. The minutes are not official (adopted) until Council approves them at the following meeting, after which they will be re-posted in their approved format.
There is an informal public input session during the regular Council meeting agenda, where the public is allowed to speak without having to make arrangements in advance. If a presentation will take longer than five minutes, a formal appointment should be booked in advance. If documentation will be submitted during the presentation, a minimum of ten copies are required. Any written materials that you provide will be made public subject to the provisions of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
If you would like to speak at a Council meeting, contact Legislative and Administrative Services at 780-968-8405 to book a formal appointment.
There is not a public input session as part of the Governance & Priorities Committee meeting agenda. If you would like to speak at a Governance & Priorities Committee meeting, contact the Secretary to the General Managers at 780-968-8888 ext. 8215.
