Rodney Shaigec was elected in October of 2010 to his first term as Mayor of Parkland County. He has been a resident of Parkland County, in Carvel, for more than three decades. His family ties to the area extend more than 100 years.
Rod has a diverse educational and professional background. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Sciences degree, Major in Communications, from Simon Fraser University, two trade certifications from N.A.I.T., and is a certified Geo-Thermal Installer.
Rod applied his Communications/Business Degree to working with First Nations groups in B.C. There, he provided business and economic advisory services. He also worked in technical sales – for a Fortune 500 group of companies, operated his own business in the construction industry, and managed commercial sales for a large Canadian retail company.
