Tri-Municipal Leisure Facility Board

In a unique partnership, the municipalities of Parkland County, City of Spruce Grove, and Town of Stony Plain, strive to complement ongoing community programs and services by providing excellent sport and recreation opportunities that are progressive, accessible and equitable. The partnership of these municipalities has resulted in sharing in the development of a multi-million dollar facility (the TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre). This facility includes indoor ice arenas, field house/gymnasium, aquatics centre, fitness area, indoor walking/jogging track, child minding space, indoor soccer pitches, as well as multi-purpose and retail spaces. This facility provides sport and recreation services to over 50,000 regional residents.

Board Membership:

A Part 9 Company was formed to manage the day-to-day operations of the Tri-Municipal Family Leisure Centre. A Board of Directors for this company oversees the management of the leisure centre. The Board is comprised of both elected officials and members of the public from all thee municipalities. Parkland County Council is represented on the Board of Directors by two councillors and one public member.

*Council members are appointed at the annual organizational meeting (held in October) for the following calendar year.

Once monthly, or more often as required.

Chairmanship:

To be determined.

Term of Office:

Public members are appointed to three-year terms commencing in January (up to a maximum of two consecutive full terms per member).
