Capital Region Board

Alberta's Capital Region Board (CRB) was officially established on April 15, 2008, and consists of mayors from 25 municipalities in the Alberta Capital Region. Parkland County is represented by Mayor Rod Shaigec with the Deputy Mayor serving as alternate.

Created by the Provincial government, the CRB is mandated to jointly develop a long-range regional growth management plan by March 31, 2009. The regional plan is required to manage four priority areas:

  • Inter-municipal transit
    • To plan a public transportation network
  • Geographic information
    • To develop an electronic system for municipalities to share planning and geographic information
  • Affordable and attainable housing
