Art Advisory Committee

The Art Advisory Committee serves to select works of art by local artists for display in County-owned facilities. Committee members will recognize the value of artworks, encourage and support local artists, as well as research and secure funding from other private sector and non-profit sector stakeholders.
Membership is open to any Parkland County resident. Preference may be given to members of art groups and/or professional/amateur artists.
Roles & Responsibilities
- To be responsible for the selection of artworks for display in County-owned buildings
- To raise community awareness and participation in the Municipal Art Program
- To meet four (4) times per year (max. twelve (12) meetings /year)
- To maintain records of purchases
- To create criteria for selection of art
- To coordinate the semi-permanent art collection with administration and the artist
- To recommend how and where artworks are to be appropriately displayed
- To recommend to Council allocation of funds from following year’s budget.
Membership:
- 2 residents of Parkland County
- 1 administrative member of Parkland County
- 1 Parkland County Councillor*

*Council member is appointed annually at Organizational Meeting (held in October) .
Meetings:
Meetings are held four (4) times per year on the first Thursday of March, June, September and November, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Parkland County Centre. A maximum of twelve (12) meetings per year to be held.
Chairmanship:
Chairperson is chosen annually by members of the committee.
Term of Office:
Public members are appointed by Council for two-year terms commencing in January (up to a maximum of three consecutive full terms per member).
