Agricultural and Rural Life Advisory Committee

The Agricultural and Rural Life Advisory Committee acts in an advisory capacity between the residents and the County Agricultural Committee by providing information and concerns related to agricultural and horticul-tural issues, and to review existing agriculture programs to determine whether they are meeting the needs of County residents. Divisional public members are also appointed annually to Appeal Committees to hear and decide on appeals against orders issued under the Weed Control Act, Soil Conservation Act, and Agricultural Pests Act, as required.

Membership:

• 2 Council members* (Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of the Agricultural Committee)
• 6 public members (one resident from each electoral division in the County)
• 1 youth representative (County resident and high school senior, to serve one year only—September to June)

*Council members are appointed at annual Organizational meeting (held in October) for the following calendar year.

Six meetings per year. The Chairperson may call special meetings.

Chair and Vice-Chair are elected at the first meeting of each year to serve a one-year term.

Term of Office:

Public members are appointed by Council for three-year rotational terms commencing in January (maximum of two consecutive full terms per member).
