Legislative & Administrative Services
The Legislative and Administrative Services Department provides diverse services to Council, administration, employees and the public, as follows:
Legislative and Procedural Services
- Prepare Council meeting agendas.
- Assists with arranging Council meeting appointments.
- Records and distributes Council meeting minutes.
- Drafts policies and by-laws, if required, in compliance with provincial legislation and regulations.
- Maintains general administration policies and ensures all departments are kept up-to-date regarding same.
- Co-ordinates Assessment Review Board by accepting assessment appeals, planning and administering hearing process, and recording decisions of the board, co-ordinates tax recovery process, including registration of tax notifications, and disposal of properties through public auction and realtor sales.
- Plans and organizes election process.
- Plans and organizes census every five years.
- Assists in validating and coordinating acceptance of public petitions.
- Processes Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) requests.
- Co-ordinates recruitment of public committee members.
Administrative Services
- Provides for the indexing and safekeeping of minutes, by-laws, policies, contracts, agreements and other documents.
- Co-ordinates the maintenance and updating of the Committee Handbook and Policy Manual
- Monitors insurance policies and maintains appropriate coverage with County's insurance provider.
- Co-ordinates the County's insured losses and third party liability claims.
- Liaises with insurance company on all general insurance matters.
Information Management
- Create and maintain the corporate records structure

- Auditing program compliancy
- Policies and procedures
- Managing records centre
- Coordinating transfer and disposal of records
- Implement electronic document management system
Health & Safety
- Ensures compliance with Occupational Health & Safety act, regulation and code
- Coordinates and promotes the County Safety Program
- Conducts internal/external health & safety audits
- Investigates incidents/near misses providing root cause recommendations
- Conducts safety inspections of County activities and work processes
- Advisory member of Joint Worksite Health & Safety Committee
Information Systems
Responsible for all computer related hardware and software including maintenance and replacement. Responsible for maintaining the County's Internet connection and connections between various County facilities.
