Emergency Services

Emergency Services for Parkland County fall within our Community & Protective Services Department.  Protective Services is comprised of Fire Services, Animal Control Services, Emergency Communication Services (911) and Patrol Services.  All four areas work together to help safeguard the persons and property of Parkland County.

Fire & Disaster Services

  • Coordinate fire agreements and County owned/shared fire trucks and emergency equipment located in Devon, Parkland Village, Stony Plain, Wabamun, Entwistle, Tomahawk and Seba Beach.Undertake fire inspections and fire investigations pursuant to Alberta Safety Codes Act.
  • Fire Guardians throughout the county available to issue fire permits.
  • Update and test Municipal Emergency Response Plan.
  • Mutual aid agreements in place for additional resources.
  • Access to early public warning system.

Emergency Communcations Centre (911)

  • 24 hour per day/365 days per year emergency dispatch of Fire, Ambulance, and Patrol services.
  • 911 Call Answer Centre.

Patrol Services

  • Enforcement of Traffic Safety Act, Dangerous Goods Act, Stray Animal Act, Animal Protection Act, Petty Trespass Act, County Bylaws, and Criminal Code restricted to impaired drivers.
  • Provide investigative services pertaining to traffic complaints, overload complaints, traffic collisions, development control matters, fire responses, burning complaints, and no-shooting complaints.
  • Provide other services including issuance of fire permits, issuance of assembly permits, general patrol of county roads, subdivisions & parks, execution of criminal warrants, impaired driving infractions, and assist the general public, as well as other law enforcement agencies.

Animal Control Services

  • Enforcement of Dog Bylaws, Dangerous Dog Act and Animal Protection Act.
  • Investigate Development & Control matters relating to animals
  • Provide pound services which include adoption, impoundment, and euthanasia.
  • Provides assistance to other agencies such as RCMP and ASPCA.
