Dust Control
Rural Roads
Parkland County provides dust control on rural gravel surface roads for residents whose properties meet the guidelines as set forth in the Dust Control Policy.
A 100 meter section of public roadway adjacent to a residence can have a dust control agent applied to it at no cost to the resident if the residence falls within the guidelines. If the resident requests additional lengths of dust control, there will be a charge for the additional length.
Residences who do not qualify for the dust control, and businesses are subject to paying the total cost of any dust control applied. In these cases an application form must be filled out by whoever is requesting the dust control.
The three common dust control agents used by Parkland County are calcium chloride, lignosulfinate and crude oil. Availability of product and road conditions dictate which products are used.
The dust control program usually commences in late spring and can continue through the summer months.
