Tentative Internship Calendar

Parkland County believes that an Intern should prioritize their own schedule. This means that Parkland County allows you to choose which activities and events are the best for you to commit your budget dollars to. Some events, like those organized by Alberta Municipal Affairs, will be mandatory. Fellow staff members and your fellow interns are always willing to make recommendations to help you decide which events you would like to attend.

Some potential events for 2011/2012 include:

  • Intern Orientation hosted by Municipal Affairs, Edmonton (June)
  • Intern Executive Week hosted by Municipal Affairs, Edmonton (October)
  • Intern Wrap Up hosted by Municipal Affairs, Edmonton (end of year one)
  • Alberta Urban Municipalities Association Convention, Calgary (November)
  • Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties Convention, Edmonton (March and November)
  • Society of Local Government Managers Conference, Kananaskis (May)
  • Local Government Administrators Association Conference, Red Deer (March)
  • Alberta Rural Municipal Administrators Association Conference (September)

During an Internship you will have an opportunity to visit every service area that makes up Parkland County. In various service areas you will get a chance to participate in projects and will be assigned your own projects as well.
