Planning & Development Services is comprised of both Planning and Technical Services, with a description of their services below.
Planning Services

Responding to ratepayer and developer inquiries.

Seek public input on planning and development matters (i.e. Public Hearings, Public Open Houses).

Development control involving Land Use Bylaw infractions.

Subdivision processing.

Consolidation/plan cancellation processing.

Development Permit processing.
-
Operation of Subdivision and Development Appeal Board, Subdivision Authority, and Development Authority.

Safety Codes permit issuance (building, plumbing, electrical, gas, Private Sewage Disposal Systems).

Issuance of letter of compliance for property transactions.

Business License issuance.

Municipal Reserve disposition processing.

Long term planning (i.e. Area Structure Plans, Municipal Development Plan, Land Use By-law, etc.). Intermunicipal coordination (i.e. fringe areas planning).

Provincial liaison (all subdivision and development referral agencies, EUB, Safety Codes, Alberta Labour, Alberta Environmental Protection, etc.)

Municipal Reserves — public inquiries on purchase of reserves and/or walkways.
Technical Services
-
Update and prepare regular editions of the County
ownership map.

Fulfill requests from the public for copies of property plans, survey information, air photos, and maps.

Assign municipal addresses and maintain the County’s municipal addressing system.

Provide technical input and advice as required for subdivision and/or development proposals.
